Some guy makes website that identifies every Girl Talk sample. Whatever happened 2 the Girl Talks?
Published on Sunday 5/23/2010 @ 12:25 PM by the ALT REPORT Robot
Some lonely bro on the internet made a website that ‘identifies’ every sample off Girl Talk’s previous album “Feed the Animals.” I think this might have been useful 2-5 years ago, but I just wanted to take time to ‘reintroduce’ Girl Talk as a bloggable meme. Really only using this post as an excuse to ask “WTF happened 2 Girl Talk? Bro really fell off my radar.”
Sorta wonder what happened to that bro. I remember back in the day when he was ‘the ultimate blogworthy artist’ since he mashed up so many songs back when we all ‘just wanted to party ironically’ instead of listening to boring indie rock. He sorta embodied the spirit of the Hype Machine back before the Hype Machine turned in2 a ‘poo poo shitter’ of mashup SEO mp3s.
Do u miss the spirit of Girl Talk?
Were u ever ‘on stage’ dancing right next to that bro?

Whatever happened 2 Girl Talk?
Do u still listen to his hit album Night Ripper?
Did he retire?
Is he just making mad bank as a college DJ?
Are music festivals still looking to book Girl Talk, or are they only interested in new buzzbands?
Did Girl Talk ever win respect as a ‘real DJ’?
Will Girl Talk ever have the chance to win critical acclaim now that the chillwave era has redefined the mainstream perception of indie sample based music?
Will Girl Talk ‘come back’ and try to compete in the modern state of the buzzosphere?
IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT GIRL TALKS / Greg Gillis, PLEASE SHARE IT IN THE COMMENT SECTION. WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME U SAW THAT BRO?

I saw that Bro at the University of Texas when he played a free show. Everyone thought it was real cool and stuff, but I thought it was sort of lame because he’s like, so 2008. I ended up going to the show after I got real stoned because it was right across the street from the Chipotle I was munching at so I was like, “why not?” I ended up fainting during the show and busting my head open and I got eight stitches.

GT makes me laugh because he gets all of his hipster credit for mashing white trash music with black trash music.
Ya’ll heard dis trance/dirty south mashup mix?

His PR machine chick is a total DB. She doesn’t let reporters/bloggers talk to him about sampling, intellectual property or anything. She acts like he’s the most genius thing ever, and tries to control the story. With an experience like that, it can really turn off people who are fans and keep others from writing about it.
Guess he’s “too hardcore” to interact with his fans now that he’s a “phenomenon”
