Bitter Video Director ‘leaks’ rejected Passion Pit Video

Apparently this is a ‘rejected’ video for Passion Pit’s hit song “Sleepy Head.” There are ‘tons of rumors going around’ as to how it leaked, but it was made in the era before Passion Pit was signed to a major label and got ‘a powerful management team.’ We can only assume that this video was made/leaked by an earnest artistic videomaker whose concept ‘got the shaft’ after Passion Pit got ‘crazy budgets’ and didn’t need the pro bono work of video artist bros.
Pashy Pit’s MGMT tells popular mp3 blog Sterrygum:
This video was shot before French Kiss/Columbia and Team 8 Management were involved with Passion Pit. The video precedes the current video of “Sleepyhead” … and was rejected by the band and management. We don’t know who leaked the video, but can assure you that it did not come from our camp.
Did Passion Pit reject the initial video because it ’seemed too entry-level’ and they needed to chase corporate dollars instead of being a cutesy handclappy synth band?

Is the ‘leaked’ video ‘better’ than the ‘official’ 1?
Or are they ‘equally shitty’?
What’s the difference between an ‘official’ music video and a ‘fan’ video?
Have u ever had a nightmare where ’sleepy head’ played over and over again at a Pashy Pit concert full of entry level alts?

First? ‘Equally shitty’ is my vote.

They both suck pretty hard but that rejected one screams “reject me” at the top of its lungs. It’s not even the concept as much as how the flaps of the poorly cut tablecloth hang around the people’s necks and cheap that crap looks.

I never got how this song is “cool electro”. It sounds a lot like it should be on a “pop countdown” instead.
